Butterfly Love

Hi there!

Here's another card I made for the PSA Essentials Love Blog Hop last week. I loved using all the Prima goodies I received (Prima Marketing was part of the blog hop). The card started with a Lemon Tart card base from Papertrey Ink. I rubbed Fresh Snow ink on the edges of the card. I found a little bag of doilies in the garage when we cleaned up a few weeks ago, so I used one here. I added the Prima pearls next. I used some new Helmar adhesive (I wasn't familiar with this Australian company before) to attach the butterflies to the card. I stamped the sentiment on another doily, so the papers would match (even though they don't seem to match in my photo). I used a punch to cut out the sentiment and added heavier cardstock behind the doily before adding it to the card.

I kept the Little Guy home again today since he still had a fever last night. This kid normally plays with Legos every single day! He didn't touch them yesterday. He took a long nap and then fell asleep in my arms for a bit too. I'm hoping he's better today so he can go back to school tomorrow.

XOXO Love

Hi everyone! It's been a bit of a bad morning. This morning I noticed the freezer door of the refrigerator we have in the garage was open. I'll have to throw out all the food it contained. Ugh! When I was walking Kalino to school, he tripped and fell scraping his cute forehead, nose, and knee. Oh my! There was very minimal blood, but the poor kid was scared. He's always afraid he's going to die when he gets injured. I had to assure him he was fine. We walked back home to clean him up. He's resting upstairs.


Well after all that drama, here's a card I made for PSA Essentials to celebrate love and Valentine's Day. I wish I would've trimmed the edges of that nice ribbon (it bugs me now!).

Love, Love, and More Love

I hope you had a great weekend. I spent what felt like most of the day on Saturday taking down our Christmas tree and packing up all Christmas related items. The Little Guy was extremely sad. If it was up to him, the tree and decorations would stay up all year.

Here's a card I designed for PSA Essentials using the Bouquet Toss stamp set. I stamped the image many times using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Without paying attention to staying in the lines, I colored the hearts with different Copic markers. I cut out each heart and adhered each to a white card base. For added interest, I covered one of the hearts with Crystal Effects and let it dry overnight.

Here's a closeup to show how I used Crystal Effects on one of the hearts and some dimensional adhesive to lift the heart off the card.

Instructions

1. Create a 4.25" x 5.5" card base.
2. Repeatedly stamp the heart on a separate pieces of white cardstock. Use Memento ink since it will not smear with you color in with Copic markers.
3. Color hearts with various Copic markers.
4. Trim out each heart.
5. Use Diamond Glaze on one heart and set aside for dry completely.
6. Arrange hearts on card and attach to the card base.
7. For texture, use dimensional adhesive to attach the one heart.

Hello my dear paper crafting friends. I made this card for Embellish Magazine's Color Challenge. We also had to use hearts on the project. The colors we had to use were red, black, and pink. We could also use some white.

I used some digi papers called Smoochie by Melissa Bennett from Sweet Shoppe Designs.

I've got to get some sleep. I've been up since 4 AM! The little guy had a nightmare and came to our room. I couldn't fall asleep, so I decided to go downstairs to sleep on the couch. As soon as I opened our bedroom door, I was hit with the smell of skunk. Ugh! It wasn't over-powering, but I couldn't fall asleep. I was worried a skunk was under the house. We live in the suburbs, but I feel like I live in the mountains. Two nights ago when I was putting some recycling in our large bin in the backyard, I saw the reflection in two little eyes looking at me from the edge of the deck. It was a darn raccoon. Then I saw another....and then another one! They were large. I was telling them (actually yelling) to get out of my yard, but I don't speak "raccoon". One of them kind of hissed at me. They are scary critters. Almost every year, they break the vents of the crawl space and try to live under our house. I bet these 3 critters caused the skunk to stink up the neighborhood.

WHOO Loves You?

Hi everyone! Just popping in quickly to post my card for the Embellish Magazine Color Challenge with Owls. The colors we had to use where Coral, Brown, and Green.

I used the cute owl images Ashley  provided to us. I paper-pieced the owl and embellished his belly by punching out 1/2" circles of distressed chocolate chip paper. I layered the circles on the belly and trimmed off the excess. I love my owl! I drew the branch out on some Bella Rose designer series paper and cut it out. I made a heart chipboard by glueing 4 hearts together. I stamped a Hero Arts woodgrain stamp on the heart.

This card looks a lot like the one made on Valentine's Day. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi everyone! Here's my card for Cath's Plum Crazy challenge over on Moxie Fab World. I was inspired by the ruffles in the pictures and the use of typography. This card is 3.75" x 8". I love distressing paper with a paper crimper. The paper becomes like fabric after you break down all the fibers. Love it!

Hi everyone! Where is the week going? There is not enough time in the day. I finally ordered from the new SU! catalog. I got my order on Monday. I had to have the Medallion stamp.

I used paper and chipboard from the SU! Country Living Holiday Collection Stampin' Kit to create this love-themed card.

I made my own heart chipboard by punching the heart out 5 times from kraft cardstock and gluing all the layers together.

I've had 1 bottle of Liquid Pearls for years...I don't think I've ever used it. After see this card by Kristina, I had to try something similar.

Love You Much, Dad

The colors this week for Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #41 were the perfect combo to create a birthday card for my dad. His birthday is the day after Valentine's, so his cards are usually dual-purpose.

I used this card from ARTfelt Impressions as inspiration for the layout of my card. I didn't add ribbon, but I paper pierced around the basic gray designer paper and the word LOVE. I stamped "Feliz Cumpleanos" on the inside of the card. I love my dad very much. I'll have to order the man some books from Amazon...he is a voracious reader of all things history-related.

You are My Love Affair to Remember

I was so thrilled to get the Audrey award (along with Sam from Ryemilan's Stamping and Scrapbooking) for the card I did inspired by "The Sound of Music". Sankari and Brooke asked us to be the guest designers for the new Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge movie, "An Affair to Remember". Thanks, Brooke and Sankari!


This is one of my favorite vintage movies. I've seen it several times. I LOVE Cary Grant movies and I love Deborah Kerr. I must admit I saw "Sleepless in Seattle" in 1993 before seeing "An Affair to Remember". I loved how "Sleepless in Seattle" weaved in the story about meeting on the roof of the Empire State Building just like Nickie and Terry. The building plays such a prominent role in both movies that I had to use the image of the Empire State Building as my inspiration for this card. I got the image from this site.

A little over 9 years ago, one of my sisters and I took my parents on a Mediterranean cruise. We had an overnight stop New York (we were actually staying close to the JFK airport). My sister is pretty adventurous. My dad stayed back in the hotel. My mom, my sister, and I ventured off in the subway and made our way to Manhattan (my sister is the only one who had been to the city before while she attended Cornell University). Our destination...the Empire State Building! We had a great time. The problem was getting back to our hotel. It was almost midnight, so the subway became a little scary. At one point, we were convinced we were being followed by some young men. I though we were going to be mugged. Whew...we got back safely. Seeing NY city from the top of the Empire State Building was worth all the effort.

I first saved the photo onto my computer. Using Picasa, I cropped it slightly and added the text "Love Affair to Remember" to the bottom of the photo. The photo already had a vintage look to it. I printed it on matte cardstock a few times. I cut out the building and used foam tape to layer it on the other photo to give it some dimension. I inked the edges of the photo with Basic Black ink. The rest of the card is simple. I covered the chipboard with my favorite Riding Hood Red designer paper. Thankfully, my husband has the perfect tiny sanding tools, so I was able to get into the groove of the heart. I masked off the word "You" from a stamp in the Best Yet set. The rest are stickers, ribbon, some leftover paper from my Christmas card, and some mini rhinestones.

With Love

Hi, I hope everyone is having a good day. Can I say I struggled with this color combination. I started making a second card to replace this one, but I'm a little persistent (nice way of saying stubborn), so I decided to continue with this one. Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #29 has the following colors. Boy, I love how these challenges get me out of my comfort zone!

I love that these colors work for a masculine-looking card. I still haven't made a dent in the amount of SU rub ons I have, so I decided to use one for the main image. I thought the rub-on looked a little plain, so I added rhinestones and a felt flower. Now, it looks like too much bling. Oh, well.

Wishing You Love - AVS10

I like this card. This card uses sketch #10 from the Anni-VERVE-sary. The heart-shaped BasicGrey chipboard fit perfectly on top of the "v". I stamped the Wishing you Love stamp in dye ink and then with VersarMark ink so I could emboss it with clear embossing powder. There is something I just love about kraft cardstock. I love it. When I see you all use it too, it just looks great.

Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #10

Here's a new attempt at an acetate card. The colors are from Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #10. The colors for this challenge are:

Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, So Saffron, Bashful Blue, and Whisper White

I started with a 6x6 inch piece of acetate folded in half. I wanted to emboss the heart images, so I stamped them with dye ink first and then used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to restamp them with Versamark ink. The clear embossing powder sticks to the Versamark ink. Love this! To avoid using a Stamp-a-ma-jig, there's a simpler way...thanks to a tip from my blogging buddy Jenn at Kiyomi Krafts. I forgot to use the simpler method! The Not Quite Navy cardstock is behind the acetate and the So Saffron cardstock is on top of the acetate to hid the adhesive. A matching piece of Not Quite Navy cardstock is on the back part of the acetate to allow for writing something. For dimension, the inner portion of the heart is popped up on foam tape.
