Lollipop Flower & Adventures at the Mall

I loved the color inspiration challenge (#43) this week from Kristina (I always love her challenges). I've been wanting to make some lollipop flowers, like the ones that Prima makes, so this was a perfect opportunity. The colors this week are:

My Adventures at the Mall (Should Be Called Who Do I Think I Am...

Paul Blart: Mall Cop?)
Last night we went to the mall. I was craving a grilled chicken salad from
Chipotle. After eating we went shopping. We went into Wilson's Leather because I noticed they had a lot of items 70% off. My husband and son left me and went to another store. That's when my adventures started. I was looking at handbags and wallets. They had handbags in several locations, so I moved to the edge of the store. I saw a woman looking at a jacket. She quickly got it off the hanger and started rolling it up like a towel. She put it in her tote bag. Without thinking I said, "Excuse me, take that out of your bag". I startled her and I shocked myself. I couldn't believe I was being so bold! She removed it from her bag. I then said "What you are doing is wrong"...again I couldn't believe my own ears. She then looked over at another young woman and said something I can't repeat, but then she said "This is none of your business" as she put the jacket back in her bag. I then realized that it was two women shoplifting together. As soon as they headed to the door, I ran to the cashier to tell him. We watched helplessly and they ran out the mall entrance. He thanked me for telling him. It was very surreal. They didn't leave their Styrofoam food container from the food court in all this hoopla.
The good news..they left one of the jackets. The bad news...items get shoplifted, even when they are 70% off.

Is Anyone Going to the SJ Stamp Show Tomorrow?

I'm planning to go to the stamp show in San Jose tomorrow...are any of you? Here's a link for the details:
A Stamp in the Hand Co.

I also want to see Jane's Copic demo from 1-4 PM at Memories Live On tomorrow in Cupertino:
Memories Live On

I don't know if I'll be able to go to both events. I'm taking off right now to take my son to the Children's Discovery Museum. He's been patiently waiting for me. This is his last day of Winter Break.

Hi everyone! Here's the latest card for Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #42. I used the Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #5 for the layout (I didn't post this on time on Karen's blog).
(Edited to Add 2/20: new picture of card taken in daylight; picture I took last evening was driving me crazy...the More Mustard and Really Rust cardstock didn't look the right colors.)

The colors this week are:
More Mustard, Really Rust, Kiwi Kiss, and Whisper White

I'm off to help my son find a missing library book that is due today. Thanks for looking!

WHOO Loves You?

I made these after seeing a link on How About Orange (I love her blog!) to Better Homes and Gardens. Here's a link to the Whoo Loves You card. There is a down loadable pattern for all the pieces on the card (minus the 3 small hearts). I used some older BasicGrey paper my friend Ericka gave me last year.

Edited to Add: here's another location for the owl template from Scrapbooks, Etc.

Our early dinner plans didn't quite work out today. We arrived at the
Cheesecake Factory around 4:30 PM for an early dinner. The lobby was jammed with people...so many people. We didn't even ask how long the wait would be....had to be way over an hour! We shopped at the mall. Took Kalino to the Lego store for the first time. He had a mini meltdown. He wanted the larger Star Wars sets....um...I don't think so. He had a budget of $10 (Grandma & Grandpa set him money for Valentine's Day). We are trying to help him learn the value of a dollar. He finally picked out a cool helicopter....the drama. Oh my!

We decided to our back up dinner plans would be the Falafel Drive In across the freeway from the mall. Yummy! The best falafels!! We ate outside in the cold (we didn't have to, but we didn't mind). That's how good this place is. If you are ever in San Jose, look it up.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

The fun at Papertrey Ink continues. Our challenge today was to make a card using a color combo that Dawn McVey used last week. I choose the color combo in the first card on this post.

I made this card for my Sweetie! He's been in the studio with me this morning watching "Cranky Geeks" on his computer, but I don't think he noticed what I was making. Valentine's Day started off with him making me a yummy breakfast (french toast, eggs, and bacon).

I hope you have a great day. Thanks for looking!

Happy Valentine's Day for Teachers

I made these cards last night for my son's Kindergarten teachers. I've had the Love You Much bundle for weeks and shamefully I barely started using it last night. I really love how the first card came out.

I have more to post tomorrow for Valentine's Day. Thanks for looking!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Love You Much, A Happy Heart
Paper: Pink Pirouette (textured & regular), Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla, Candy Lane DSP
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Memories Black
Tools: Paper piercer, scallop edge punch, 1/2" circle punch, word window punch, 3 heart punch, 2" circle punch, Martha Stewart circle cutter
Other: Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon, lace (blog candy from Char), mini pearls (Michael's), foam tape

Love You Much, Dad

The colors this week for Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #41 were the perfect combo to create a birthday card for my dad. His birthday is the day after Valentine's, so his cards are usually dual-purpose.

The colors this week were:
Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Basic Grey, Whisper White

I used this card from ARTfelt Impressions as inspiration for the layout of my card. I didn't add ribbon, but I paper pierced around the basic gray designer paper and the word LOVE. I stamped "Feliz Cumpleanos" on the inside of the card. I love my dad very much. I'll have to order the man some books from Amazon...he is a voracious reader of all things history-related.

Thanks for looking!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Love You Much, Felicidades Siempre (Feliz Cumpleanos stamp used on inside)
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Riding Hood Red Patterns DSP, Prestwick DSP, Candy Lane DSP, Whisper White

Ink: Riding Hood Red
Tools: Scallop Edge Punch, 3 Heart Punch, paper piercer
Other: foam tape, black brad (Bazzill)

Best Friend Valentine's Day

I've been loving the Papertrey Ink contests this week. Here's another one. We had to create a card for our best friend. I had forgotten to use the January 2009 Virtual Card Club I purchased from Kristina. She had the perfect sentiment to create a Valentine's Day card for a best friend.

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Flower Stamp (Autumn Leaves)
Paper: white (JudiKins), Groovy Guava & Soft Sky (SU!)
Ink: Groovy Guava, Close to Cocoa
Tools: Scallop Edge Punch
Other: foam tape, rhinestones (A Stamp in the Hand), Kristina's Virtual Card Club

Papertrey Ink Amor

I love everything Papertrey Ink (PTI) creates. I don't own a single product of theirs...yet! I've been watching their releases for almost a year. Wow...gorgeous stamps and accessories. Now they are coming out with even more goodies, like buttons. I created this card using Nichole's sketch (I loved connecting the dots!) challenge.

Card Ingredients
Stamps: amor sentiment (Palabras Maravillos- SU! retired), dots (Inkadinkado)
Paper: Basic Black (SU!), Kraft (CA Paper Goods), white (JudiKins), Raspberry Fizz Sneak Peek Pieces (PTI)
Tools: 3 Heart Punch (SU!)
Other: ribbon (Michael's), dew drops (blog candy, thanks
Jane), foam tape, paper piercer

Swirly Stamp Gone Wild

I should've stopped before I got to this point. I thought the Old Olive cardstock looked too plain. "I'll just add some swirly embossed images from the Priceless set", I said to myself. This card should be called "Ma'am, step away from the swirly stamp and clear embossing powder and no one will get hurt." I got a little carried away.

Here's my entry for
Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #40. The colors this week are:
More Mustard, So Saffron, Taken with Teal, Old Olive, and Whisper White

Thanks for looking!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Priceless, Upsy Daisy, Felicidades Siempre
Paper: So Saffron, Old Olive, Taken with Teal, Whisper White, Georgia Peach DSP
Ink: So Saffron, More Mustard, Old Olive, VersaMark
Tools: Fiskars 2" circle punch & Threading Water punch
Other: foam tape, More Mustard ribbon, clear embossing powder
