Welcome Little One

Hi everyone! I don't submit my work to magazines that often, but when I saw a recent publication call for baby cards in non-traditional colors, I knew I wanted to design a card. I love the use of non-traditional colors. The card wasn't accepted for publication, so I get to show it here. I like the look of white ink stamped on black cardstock. It looks like a vintage chalkboard.

All the stamps for this card come from the very talented Paloma Gomez and Dulces Ideas Clear Stamps. I randomly placed all sorts of sentiments on my acrylic block to create a background stamp. I love this look. I created a similar card here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Yay Dad!

I made this card for my dad. On Friday, he finished 7 weeks of radation treatments. Yay, it's a relief! I hope the radiation did it's job and removed all remaining cancer cells.

To celebrate this milestone and my mom's birthday yesterday, my parents are in Las Vegas for some much-needed rest and relaxation.

Gotta run. It's after 6:30 in the evening and I have no idea what to make for dinner. It will probably be breakfast for dinner.

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Dia del Padre (Dulces Ideas Clear Stamps)
Paper: Basic Gray, retired patterned paper (SU!)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Tools: Small heart punch (SU!), Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers), pouncing brush (JudiKins)
Other: ribbon (SU!), Thickers (American Crafts), foam tape (3M)

Happy Birthday, Mom!

It's a beautiful Saturday here. I hope you're having a great day. I've just been taking it easy. I watched Nate Berkus' new show; I liked it.

Today is my mom's birthday; love her! I'll have to send her the link to this blog entry since this card has not made it to her in New Mexico. On all the cards I make for her, I try to do actual sewing, since she sews. On this card, I used a paper piercer to pierce around the border of the plum cardstock. The black "thread" is a fine black Sharpie pen.

This card uses the same stamps as the previous card I published, but I love the colors on this card more.

Card Ingredients (all from Papertrey Ink unless where noted)
Stamps: Year of Flowers: Roses, Damask Designs
Paper: white, Plum Pudding, Orange Zest Bitty Dots patterned paper
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Fresh Snow
Tools: Heart to Heart punch (SU!), paper piercing tool & template
Other: buttons, foam tape (3M), black pen (Sharpie), black/white baker's twine, Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue

Happy 7th Birthday, Jonah

Hey blog peeps! Today we went to a birthday party for one of our favorite young friends, Jonah, who turns 7 this week. My Little Guy had a great time with his friends getting drenched with water guns, a water slide, and a Slip 'N Slide.

I made this card really fast this morning because I didn't have time to work on it this week. I used my Silhouette digital cutter to cut out the circle and the number 7. I love that you can use the fonts located on your computer with the Silhouette. The number 7 is in a cool font called Bodoni MT. You can't tell from the photo, but I cut the number 7 several times from Kraft cardstock and glued them together to create my own chipboard. I then cut the Cosmo Cricket paper out and adhered it to the chipboard.

I want to wish one of my best friends, Cris, Happy Birthday today. I didn't have time to make her a card.

I can't help but think about today and what our country went through on September 11th, 2001. Thankfully, we have little ones and celebrations for loved ones in our lives to show us that life goes on. My thoughts and prayers are with all the innocent individuals and their families who are forever changed by September 11th. Peace, my dears!

Feliz CumpleaƱos

Today is my mother-in-law's birthday. Here's a card I made for her using the colors from the Color Cue {7} Challenge. My paper is not quite aqua, it's Cool Carribbean from SU!.

The focal point of the card started with a Dear Lizzy doily design cut with my Silhouette cutter. I also used my Big Shot and an eyelet embossing plate from SU! to give the base of the card some texture.

Later!

My Heart is With You

Hi everyone! A few weeks ago, Teri Anderson (one of my all-time favorite card designers and one of Paper Crafts Magazine Go-To-Gals) issued this challenge on Twitter:

@GoToGalTeri Twitter friends card making challenge wanters: I left you hanging. ;) I challenge you to make a card with 23 buttons, brads or gems on it.

I love that she chose 23 and not some even number. I used 23 rhinestones on the hearts. I was lucky enough to meet Teri back in January at the CHA Supershow in Anaheim. I've admired her work for a long time, so it was great to talk to her.

Around the time Teri issued the challenge, I saw this cake on Bakerella's website. Oh my, doesn't this cake look amazing! I got my inspiration for the design of my card from her cake.

I wish I would left the sentiment off the front of the card. I should've stamped it on the inside. Oh well.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Small Sayings (SU! - retired)
Paper: White (Papertrey Ink), DSP (SU!)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Tools: Heart to Heart punch (SU!), Word Window punch (SU!), QuickStik (QuicKutz)
Other: rhinestones (Michael's), Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue, foam tape (3M)

Hey

Hi all! Here's a simple card inspired by a card in the latest Stampin Up catalog on page 16. I also created it for a CARDS magazine challenge to use 1-word sentiments. I continued my use of baker's twine; I love the stuff. Instead of faux stitching, I created a dot border to mimic the font of the sentiment.

Have a good one!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: For the Love of Dots (Practicing Creativity)
Paper: Basic Black (SU!), Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Other: Glue Dots, bakers twine, black gel pen (Sakura)
