Happy Birthday, Ericka!

I haven't created a card for a Papertrey Ink Blog Hop in quite a while, but I didn't want to miss this one. Our challenge was to use embroidery floss in a fun and inventive way. I used Dawn's Delightful Doilies stamps to create some flowers and I used embroidery floss by adding a lot of French knots.

Today is my friend Ericka's birthday, so I made this card for her. She won't receive it in time, but I'll send her the link.

The sketch for my design comes from Clean & Simple sketch #132.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a good day.
Card Ingredients (all from Papertrey Ink except where noted)

Dad, Thinking of You

Hola! We arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico yesterday. My parents picked us up at the airport. We spent the night at my sister and brother-in-law's house. While it's great to be back in my home state, our trip to New Mexico is bittersweet. On one hand, we'll be celebrating Kalino's birthday in Taos with all his cousins on Sunday. I'll get see all, but one of my siblings, but I'll also see my cousin and uncle that are feeling the huge loss of losing my Aunt Christine in early June.

I'm also sad and nervous that today my dad has to start radiation treatments in Albuquerque. He'll have to live there Monday - Friday (120 miles away from home) for over 8 weeks. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer almost 7 years ago and had surgery. The radiation is a precautionary step since his PSA numbers have recently started climbing.

I made this card for him. I used the 100th sketch from Clean and Simple. The sentiment is from the Men of Life set by Papertrey Ink. I don't know who made this lovely paper, but it's been on my shelf for over a year.

Have a lovely day!

Happy Birthday, Fatima!

Yes, it's Friday! Here's a card I made for my sister-in-law, Fatima. She's celebrating her birthday tomorrow. I hate that she won't receive the card on time.

The design is clean and simple, which I love. I had a hard time stamping the "happy birthday" sentiment. This stamp is my nemesis. It's such a thin font, that stamping and heat embossing it was frustrating. I re-did it 4 times! The rest of the card took about 10 minutes to assemble. I used the layout on
these cards from the Clean & Simple Stamping blog for my card. I love that blog! Have a great weekend everyone.

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: All Holidays (SU!)
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Pink Flamingo DSP (SU!)
Ink: Versamark
Tools: embossing gun
Other: white embossing powder, rhinestones (Michael's), foam tape

Happy Birthday, Joe!

I'm so behind on making birthday cards for family and friends. Last evening I had to make this card in about 15 minutes because we were leaving to Joe's birthday party. I originally had stamped a sports car (Joe is a car fanatic), but the stamped sports car made the card look too juvenile. Forget that! I went will clean and simple on this one. I was in such a rush, I forgot to use the corner rounder on the back edges of the card.

Have a good one!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Four Square
Paper: white (Judi-Kins), kraft, Basic Black, Washington Apple DSP, Windsor Knot DSP (SU!)
Ink: Memories Black
Tools: Square Scallop punch (SU!), stapler, corner rounder (Fiskars)
Other: foam tape, black/white ribbon, black chipboard Thickers (American Crafts)

Happy Joyful Birthday, Yolanda

Hi everyone! I made this birthday card for my sister-in-law, Yolanda. I used the Fall-to-Layout #32 from Clean & Simple. I love their sketches. Sadly, this is the first time I've used one of their sketches; it won't be the last time.

Since my sister-in-law has been collecting "java jackets" for me to use in my crafting, I thought it would be appropriate to use them on her card. I die cut a Starbucks and a Peet's Coffee & Tea java jacket. Let's see if she notices...hehe!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Small Sayings (SU!-retired)
Paper: blue textured card base (CA Paper Goods), designer paper (BasicGrey Euphoria), Whisper White (SU!), white corrugated flower (Peet's Coffee & Tea), brown corrugated flower (Starbucks)
Ink: Memories Black
Tools: Martha Stewart Circle Cutter, Corner Rounder (Fiskars), Big Shot, Flower Layers #3 (Sizzix/SU!)
Other: Prima flower, Linen thread (SU!), button (Making Memories)
