With Sympathy

I got the sad news earlier this week that my ex-boss, Fred, passed away right before Thanksgiving from a heart attack. He was the best manager I've ever had. He gave me a lot of independence, but was there for me if I needed his help. He was great!

He and his wife moved out of the Bay Area about 10 years ago and were living in Oklahoma. I made this card for his wife, Gail. 

The card was made with a background stamp from Hero Arts that I stamped using VersaMark ink. I love this background stamp! The large sentiment stamp is also from Hero Arts. I bought the gorgeous canvas butterfly at Michael's. I can't remember who makes it.

Follow Your Dreams

Hi everyone! This is my first Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. This month's challenge was to use tissue. I die cut the paper that came with my order 6 times using a Stampin' Up die. Hero Arts Butterfly

I love that Hero Arts has released some designs for the Silhouette! I've always loved this butterfly image, so now I can cut it with my Silhouette and I can make it as little or as small as I choose. Can you tell I love my Silhouette? I posted this card on Flickr last week for a Hero Arts challenge, but had forgotten to post it here.

I glued individual toothpicks to the back of the image. Last month I loved the toothpick challenge for Everything But the Kitchen Sink, so I wanted to use toothpicks once again. I loved creating this card for their challenge. The card stock and sentiment is from Stampin' Up and the patterned paper is a digi paper design called Cheery Glen by Misty Cato (Sweet Shoppe Designs).

I asked him what he meant. He said that he's glad he's lives in a world that was made better by Dr. King. What a great perspective from a 6-year old.

My Dear Kind & Wonderful Friend

Are your days as crazy as mine? I'm so behind these days. I feel like I'm moving in slow motion and the rest of you are going at full speed. Only 8 more days until Christmas! Tomorrow is the last day of school before the winter break. The Little Guy is excited. I've asked Santa to buy me better lighting for my picture taking. I still haven't finalized my Christmas card design! I did received my paper order from Stampin' Up today...yeah!

I don't own the Top Note die by Stampin' Up, but this is my fake version I cut using my Silhouette. I love the SU! butterfly die, and I don't get to use it enough. I ran some thin strips of chocolate chip card stock through my paper crimper to give my butterfly some antennae.

Happy Birthday, Violet

I made this hybrid card for my friend Violet, who celebrates her birthday this weekend.

The card front is a digi page from Fee Jardine called Fallin 4 You Mixed Up Papers from Sweet Shoppe Designs. I added paper from Making Memories and a Hambly Studios sticker on top of the card front.

I again used the digital cutting kit from Jen Allyson called Project Cuts - Cut Out Card to cut the card front and insert using my QuicKutz Silhouette.

The butterfly was created by using a brayer to add color onto glossy paper. I stamped a woodgrain stamp using VersaMark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.
