Happy Birthday, Cris!

One of my dearest friends, Cris, has a birthday on September 11th. Her birthday dinner was abruptly cancelled 7 years ago during that terrible day in our country's history. Tomorrow, she is having a birthday dinner again. We won't be able to make it because of a previous commitment at Kalino's school. I hope she has a great party and a great day.

This card was created for Kristina's

Thank You - AVS01

I finally finished the 12 cards for the Julee's Anni-VERVE-sary sketch challenge! I completed all 12 cards in less than 48 hours. That's a record for me. I was up till almost 3 AM and I was up again by 7 AM. It's after 2 PM and I haven't showered yet.

This was also the first time I uploaded anything to Splitcoaststampers (my gallery). I messed up the categories a few times. I was in such a rush, I forgot to select the SU stamp set names. Sorry, Splitcoaststampers!!

Julee's first sketch was the hardest for me to complete. I created this card last.

Card Ingredients
Stamps: For a Friend
Paper: Confetti Kraft (CA Paper Goods), Certainly Celery, Rose Red, Pumkin Pie, SU DSP
Ink: Memories Black
Other: Felt Fusion, Martha Stewart marker, Certainly Celery Polytwill ribbon, foam tape, 15/16" square punch, Making Memories rhinestone brad, Fiskars scallop scissors

The Smell of Play-Doh (SOA Challenge #5 - Fave Childhood Memory)

This scrapbook page if for Stampin' Out Alzheimer's Challenge #5. We had to scrap a page inspired by a favorite childhood memory. Photos were not required. The smell of Play-Doh and playing with Play-Doh are one of my favorite childhood memories.

I had to totally redo this scrapbook page. I hated the paper choices I made the first time around...I used primary colors matching Play-Doh...ugh, to circus-ish (sorry, not a real word). I love the new color choices of this page.

Scrapbook Page Ingredients
Stamps: none
Paper: designer paper (My Mind's Eye), small scrap of white used for printing Play-Doh logo
Ink: printed on my laser printer...font used is SBC Scribble
Other: Embossed stickers (Marcella by Kay), 3/4" paper punch, flower-shaped brad, felt flower (SU Flower Fusion), foam tape

We May Not Be Tadpoles Anymore

For Kristina's Color Inspiration #6 challenge, we had to use the following colors:
So Saffron, Sahara Sand, Pumpkin Pie, and Wild Wasabi (she also told us to keep Wild Wasabi to a minimum)

It took me a long time to come up with a design for this challenge. How to use Sahara Sand with these other colors, was the challenge for me. I decided to embrace the color and use it at the focal point of the card.

I love the
layout challenge Taylor gave us last month. I've used it a few times (here and here) and I love it. I decided to use it for Kristina's color challenge.

I also wanted to use some of the blog candy
Theresa gave me on this card. Thanks, Theresa! I used a flower from Flower Fusion for the lily pad and some Wild Wasabi ribbon.

I also did some sewing on the border. My stitch length and tension is not what I wanted, but I didn't have time to fool around with the machine settings.

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Birthday Banner, By Design, Unfrogettable
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi, Making Memories designer paper, white kromekote brayered with Sahara Sand ink, sunflower paper rubbed with So Saffron ink for the card base
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Pumpkin Pie, Sahara Sand, So Saffron, Basic Black
Other: Flower Fusion, Wild Wasabi striped grosgrain, Making Memories mini brads, goggly eyes, white gel pen, Fiskars corner edger scissors, Making Memories slot punch tool, VersaMarker pen
