Happy Secretary's Day - Two Cards

I made a couple of cards for the great women you meet when you walk into my son's school. Secretary's Day was last week, but we were on Spring Break, so we celebrated the day this week. I don't have any Happy Secretary's Day stamps, do you? But I wanted to tell them Thank You for all they do. Their job is definitely not easy.

Both cards use one of my favorite Papertrey Ink sets (Everyday Button Bits). I wanted the cards to be similar, so I chose to use Kraft cardstock (my favorite) for both. They also have the new Dotty Biscotti paper from Papertrey Ink.

Half the button are "threaded" with thin strips of Dotty Biscotti paper; the others with linen thread.  The "Soaring by to say" card has the Thank You sentiment stamped on the inside.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Ingredients (all Papertrey Ink except where noted)
Stamps: Everyday Button Bits, Big & Bold Wishes
Paper: Kraft (SU!), Dotty Biscotti

Tools: Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers), Embossed Curve punch (EK Success), embossing gun, Big Shot with Fillable Frame #3
Other: clear embossing powder, white gel pen (Sakura), Linen Thread (SU!), Zots, Lemon Tart ribbon, buttons, May Arts aqua ribbon (Practicing Creativity), Tim Holtz Paper Distresser, foam tape (3M)

Enjoy the New Ride

Hi there! I couldn't resist Cath's Get Sketchy challenge. I love The Boyfriend collection from Cosmo Cricket. I have the chipboard that goes with it and I haven't used it yet. I noticed the "You Rock" card in her posting uses the same collection.

This is a perfect card to give my little one when we buy him a "big boy" bike soon. Since his bike accident last year, he's been a little hesistant to ride (plus he's outgrown his little bike), but we've got to help him get over the fear.

Thanks for looking!
Card Ingredients
Stamps: Everyday Button Bits (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: The Boyfriend (Cosmo Cricket), white (Papertrey Ink), Basic Gray (SU!), New Leaf (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Tools: 3/4" square punch (EK Success)
Other: Ready Set Chip Chipboard (Cosmo Cricket), foam tape (3M), Tombo Mono Multi Liquid Glue, black Sharpie

Follow Your Dreams

Hi everyone! This is my first Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. This month's challenge was to use tissue. I die cut the paper that came with my order 6 times using a Stampin' Up die. I stamped all the layers with Dawn's new woodgrain background stamp. I'm running late for this blog hop, so I better post this quick.

Thanks for looking!

Fill This Day With Joy

Happy Earth Day! Today has not gone smoothly. My gmail account was hacked and spammed all my contacts during the middle of the night. A lot of you got a wacky email from me. Ugh!

I made this card for Kristina's 1-layer (no embellishment) challenge. I've never made a 1-layer card...ever!

We've been enjoying some days off for Spring Break. Today was a break in the rain, so I took a picture of my card near a sunny window.

When you were a kid, did you do this type of squiggly drawings on a piece of paper and then color them in with Crayons or markers? Well, I thought I was alone on this until I saw a YouTube video by Courtney and she mentioned the same. Well, instead of Crayons, I used my growing supply of Copic markers. I went to a stamping convention on Saturday and I tripled my collection! Well, that was easy to do since I only owned 3 Copics before. Haha!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey

Yay, it's Friday! The Little Guy is on Spring Break next week. We had planned a last-minute trip down to San Diego, specifically Carlsbad, where Legoland is located. The forecast was showing rain most of the week for the San Diego and Anaheim area, so we're not going. I was even looking up last-minute package deals to Maui. Hey, a girl can dream, right? We'll be relaxing and taking little days trips around the Bay Area instead.

Tomorrow is a rubber stamp convention in San Jose from 9 to 4 PM. I plan to attend for a couple of hours.

Here's another card using For the Love of Dots and Look Up from Practicing Creativity. Can you tell I enjoyed Courtney's stamp designs? I've been using them all week.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: For the Love of Dots, Look Up (Practicing Creativity)
Paper: Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Pretty in Pink, Crushed Curry (all SU!)
Ink: Memento Black, VersaMark

Celebrate

I've been having fun in the studio creating cards with Courtney's new stamp designs, so here's another card using For the Love of Dots by Practicing Creativity. This set of stamps was a must-have for me; so versatile. I love the look of heat embossing on darker papers. I especially love the look on black cardstock!

I used my Silhouette to cut the black circle with holes perfectly placed for brads or eyelets. I've had this Silhouette design cut for several weeks, so it was a good use on this card to mimick the dot designs using silver brads.

Have a good one!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: For the Love of Dots (Praciting Creativity)
Paper: Basic Black (SU!), white (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Black, VersaMark
Tools: Silhouette and brad_or_stitching_circles_C00290_20509
Other: silver brads (Making Memories), clear embossing powder

Happy Anniversary

Hi everyone! I made this card a few days ago for my Sweetie. We celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on Monday. Nine years have gone by very fast.

I've been using Courtney Baker's newest stamp sets (For the Love of Dots and Look Up). I also used the Happy Anniversary sentiment from Stampin' Up.

I'm so happy for Courtney and Kelly Marie branching out and creating their own stamp designs. It was great to meet both designers at the Anaheim CHA Supershow back in January.

Well, it's super late. I've got to get some sleep. I'll be back tomorrow with another card using Courtney's stamps. Have a good one!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes (SU!), For the Love of Dots & Look Up (Practicing Creativity)

Ink: VersaMark, Memento Black
Tools: Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers), Heat tool, heart punch (SU!)

Today is one of my best friends birthdays. Here's her card. I made this for Becky Oehler's Compose a Card Challenge. I love the black felt from Papertrey Ink. It cuts like "buttah".

I've got to run. I'm helping set up the science fair displays at school in half an hour. I'm not even dressed yet. See you later, Chicas!

Easter Greetings

Happy Easter! It was a cold and rainy day here in Northern California. Luckily, the scavenger egg hunt I planned for the Little Guy was an indoor event. He had fun. My Sweetie made dinner, so that was great. I was able to create this card.

To everyone in Baja California and Southern California, I hope you're OK after than large earthquake this afternoon.

This card started with a Baja Breeze cardstock base. I don't have the Hero Arts Cloud background stamp, but I can cut the design on my Silhouette since Hero Arts released this image for the Silhouette. I used the negative as a stencil. I applied white craft ink and then imbossed the image with white embossing powder. I've had this The Cat's Pajamas Spring Fling set since last year and I haven't used 80% of it.

I only own 3 Copic markers, but I used them all on Driving Mr. Carrot! I also did some paper piecing and I used some colored pencils. I forgot to use Memento ink when I stamped the image...oh well. The eggs are also paper pieced.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Spring Fling (The Cat's Pajamas)
Paper: Baja Breeze (SU!), white (Papertrey Ink), patterned paper (Carolyn Gavin for K & Company)
Ink: Memories Black

Happy 5th Birthday

Hope your Saturday is going well. The Little Guy and I drove up to Oakland earlier today for my nephew's 5th birthday party. Here's the card I made for him.

The card uses kraft cardstock and Cosmo Cricket paper. I used my Silhouette to make my own chipboard again. I created the 5 using the Rockwell Extra Bold font on my computer. I cut out the numbers several times from Kraft cardstock and glued the layers together. I also used the Silhouette to cut the number out from Cosmo Cricket paper.

The other news, my techie husband stayed home to wait for UPS to deliver his iPad. It arrived about an hour ago. I can hear him and my son oohing and aahing over the device downstairs. What a cute pair of nerds! I'm off to play with the iPad too.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: I {Heart} Hearts (SU!), sentiment (Inkadinkado)
Paper: kraft (SU!), The Boyfriend 6x6 paper pack (Cosmo Cricket)
Ink: VersaMark, Chestnut Roan (ColorBox)
Tools: Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers), Silhouette (5 created using Rockwell Extra Bold font)
Other: Clear embossing powder, linen thread (SU!), foam tape (3M), Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue

We'll Miss You Friend

Today at school, we threw a semi-surprise going away lunch for Sonia, one of our favorite friends, whose family is moving to North Carolina next week. She knew about the lunch, but didn't know it was in her honor. We had to stop her when she was about to drive off to buy some goodies for the potluck. Our son's are in the same classroom, so I know my son will miss his friend too. Here's the over-sized card I made for all of us to sign.

The card uses paper I've had for a long time which was a gift from my friend, Ericka. The lettering is chipboard Thickers. I need to use Thickers more often, since I have a large supply of them! (Don't we all?)

Thanks for stopping by! It is so cold here today. It's raining. I need to go downstairs and make a cup of tea; my hands are so cold.

Card Ingredients
Stamps: I {Heart} Hearts (SU!)
Paper: white (JudiKins), lavender and patterned paper from my stash)
Ink: VersaMark
Tools: embossing gun, Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers), Scallop Trim Border Punch (SU!)
Other: ribbon (BasicGrey), button (Papertrey Ink), white embossing powder, foam tape (3M), Tombo Mono Multi Liquid Glue, Hat Box Thickers (American Crafts), white gel pen (Sakura)
