Happy Botday Dante!

I've said it before, but I love robots! And nothing says young boys birthday more than a birthday card with a robot on it.

We went to a birthday party for 6 year old cousin Dante this past weekend. Here's the card I made for him.

Here's a closeup of the Best Bots Forever stamps from Stampin' Up.

The embossed background was created with an embossing plate from Papertrey Ink.

It's been a busy week here, so I'll make this short and sweet. Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Robot Candy Valentine's Day Treats

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope today is treating you well.

I saw some really great Valentine's Day ideas on the Scrapbooks Etc. website a few weeks ago, and I thought these robots were amazing, especially for my robot-loving kiddo to give away to his classmates.

These treats were a great way to use up older Stampin' Up and Cosmo Cricket patterned paper. Each robot was unique. They are cute, but a lot more time-consuming than I anticipated. I didn't do as much to the robot's head as the sample on Scrapbooks, Etc. I started running out of time last night, so I made these for Kalino's teacher, the girls in his classroom, and his close friends outside of class (the boys got Superman Valentines with a mini chocolate attached).

While I was working late in the studio, I was watching "Downton Abbey" on the PBS website. They have Season 2 episodes. Have you watched the show? I love it! I noticed Season 1 was on Netflix last week, so I started watching the show. I was hooked. I watched all 7 episodes within a few days.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Botday!

I love robots! It could be the influence of my 7-year old on me, but I can't resist a cute robot. My nephew Stephen turned 6 this past weekend and had an awesome Star Wars-themed party. I decorated his gift bag and created this matching gift tag. The stamps are the Best Bots set from Stampin' Up.

I cut the tag with my Silhouette digital cutter and adhered different Cosmo Cricket Cogsmo Robot paper to it. On the tag and gift bag I stamped the robots and colored them with Copic markers. I layered their torsos on with foam tape to add some dimension.

The white paper I used on the gift bag was totally wrong for coloring with Copic markers. It was matte kromekote paper instead of a Copic-friendly paper.

I added some cool masculine brads and some baker's twine (you know how I LOVE baker's twine). That's it.

We're getting ready to go on Spring Break, so I'm busy, busy, busy. Later!

Thanks - Made From Items Already on My Desk

I've been in a cleaning frenzy recently. I got tired of my desk being so overloaded with stuff. My actual work area was smaller than a sheet of paper. I've been sorting, purging, and discovering a lot of half-completed cards.

For the next week, I'll be posting cards that are literally made from scraps found on my desk. This cute little robot was already stamped, inked, and even had dimensional adhesive on the back! This card base is small (3x4 inches) and was already cut; same thing with the Cosmo Cricket paper and Papertrey Ink scraps. Even the tiny nut was on my desk; I'm telling you people, it's like an archaeological dig on my desk! The only newly-stamped piece was the cute little Thanks stamp from Lawn Fawn that was included as a little gift in my order. Thanks, Kelly Marie!

We are enjoying our visit with our friends from Austin, who used to live here. Today is their daughter's 7th birthday. We are having a party tomorrow with our closest friends. Have a great weekend!

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Space Ships & Robots (My Cute Stamps), Thanks (Lawn Fawn)
Paper: SU!, Papertrey Ink, and Cosmo Cricket scraps
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Baja Breeze (SU!)
Tools: none
Other: Tombow Mono Multi Medal Liquid Glue, foam tape (3M), nut

Happy Birthday, Human

Hope you had a great Saturday. I made this little gift card in a rush this afternoon to get to a birthday party for one of Kalino's favorite friends, Nico. I didn't have time to measure the card, but the final size was about 3x4 inches. I love the Lots of Bots stamp set! I used these fantastic cards Mary created as my inspiration.

I used an Aqua Painter to color the image. I used a white gel pen on the eyes. I shouldn't have done that; it didn't need it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Ingredients (All SU! except where noted)

Stamps: Lots of Bots
Paper: Bermuda Bay - textured, Sahara Sand, Sahara Sand designer paper, white (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Black (Memories), Sahara Sand, Bermuda Bay

Tools: Book Binding punch (EK Success), Aqua Painter, hole punch
Other: brad (Michael's), foam tape (3M), white gel pen (Sakura)

3 Cute Robots

Hi everyone! With inspiration like Kalino and his robot pencil sharpener, I had to create a robot card...just had to.! Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #53 was such a fun challenge. Thanks for using my little guy's photo, Kristina! It's been fun blog hopping and seeing Kalino's picture all over the place.

I love these robot images from My Cute Stamps. I ordered them several months ago. I stamped the "I {heart} robots" sentiment several times on white twill tape with Black StazOn. I paper pieced the eyes of the 3 robots to give them eyes looking in different directions.

Have a good one and thanks for stopping by!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Birthday Whimsy (SU!), Space Ships & Robots (My Cute Stamps)
Paper: white, black (CA Paper Goods), Pacific Point, Pacific Point DSP
Ink: StazOn black, Pacific Point, Summer Sun, Real Red, VersaMark, Memories Black
Tools: Binding Edge punch (EK Success), 1/4" circle punch
Other: White twill tape (Martha Stewart), screw brads (Micheal's), white embossing powder, foam tape

Some Robot Cards

Hi everyone! My little guy has been on Spring Break this week. I've been busy with him. Yesterday, my husband took the day off and we drove to Monterey for the day. We took K to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was very empty....we loved it! The weather was perfect. When we arrived, my husband saw actress, Betty White. I was too busy noticing the woman next to her because she was dressed so chic and elegant.

Here are some cards I made the other day. I just love robot images! These are from My Cute Stamps. They naturally work with papers from Cosmo Cricket.

Thanks for looking! I've had an annoying headache since last night. I'm going to get to bed earlier than usual.

Card Ingredients (for both)
Stamps: Space Ship & Robots (My Cute Stamps), Happy Birthday (Birthday Whimsy - SU!)
Paper: white (JudiKins), Kraft (SU!), Cogsmo (Cosmo Cricket)
Ink: Real Red, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi, Basic Black, VersaMark
Tools: Big Shot,
Cuttlebug circles embossing folder, book binding punch (EK Success), 2" circle punch (Fiskars), 1/4" circle punch, paper piercer and template

Happy 4th Birthday, Stephen!

We celebrated my nephew's 4th birthday yesterday. I didn't make him a card. Instead, I decorated a large tag for his giftbag. I love robot themes for boys, since my little one is all about robots.

This tag is a large kraft tag from my stash. I just layered on the Cosmo Cricket paper. I inked and heat embossed a Heidi Swapp chipboard number.

Before I forget...Simply Handmade is giving away two die cut machines: a Sizzix Big Shot and a QuicKutz Silhouette.

Go to this link and enter to win by Friday, April 17th. I would love a QuicKutz Silhouette!

Tag Ingredients
Stamps: Four Square (SU!)
Paper: kraft tag, white, Cosgmo (Cosmo Cricket)
Ink: Memories Black, Scarlet (VersaColor)
Tools: Square scallop punch (SU!), Spiral bound (EK Success), 1/4" circle punch
Other: clear embossing powder, foam tape, blue linen thread (Blackbird Studios)

Cards 4 Kids Challenge

Last week I saw a call for 1000 blank Valentine's Day cards (or postcards) from Pat Adam (The Rubber Maid) for her Cards 4 Kids program at the Children's Hospital of Michigan. I knew I would have time to send at least 1 card. Well, my friends, I've been awake since 4 AM! I had time to make 7 slightly different cards to send to Pat (I'm going to keep one for my Little Guy since he LOVES robots).

The weather during the night was a little strange. I woke up because the wind was so suddenly strong it rattled our interior bedroom door (like a minor earthquake would). Next, I heard a small crash outside. Today is trash day, so 2 out of 3 of our trash bins were on the curb. When I looked out, the wind had knocked over our recycling bin (64 gallons). Ugh! In my pajamas I went outside to lift the recycling bin before the wind started whipping all the paper, plastic, cans, out of the bin. I couldn't fall asleep after that excitement, so I stayed up and signed up for Pat's challenge.

I wanted to create non-feminine Valentines. This card's layout was inspired by a cute
card Angie Tieman did last week. I took some Mr. Roboto paper (seen in the first picture in the following collage) from Cosmo Cricket and made it fit a Valentine's theme by punching small hearts from the reverse side of the designer paper and glued them on and around the robots. I added mini rhinestones for eyes and some screw brads to give a mechanical touch.

If you want to participate, you have to get Pat the cards by February 7th. Several bloggers (like, Jennifer Buck) are offering a chance of blog candy if you participate.

I'm off to the Post Office to mail these to Pat. Thanks for looking!
