I made this card for my sister, Esther, who celebrated her birthday yesterday. These colors were hard! I struggled with them. I used Charmaine's Weekend Sketch Challenge #74 to help me along.

Happy Anniversary, Mom & Dad!

Hi everyone! Just a quick post before I go to school. I'm helping at our school's library this morning. I still have to get dressed and be out of the house in the next 30 minutes.

My parents celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on Monday. I made a card for them last week for Kristina's color inspiration challenge, but I hated the card. I didn't post it.

This new card is late, but I wanted it mailed out today! I used the colors from Dawn McVey's first color challenge.
I'll post details later today. Thanks for looking!

Happy Joyful Birthday, Yolanda

Hi everyone! I made this birthday card for my sister-in-law, Yolanda. I used the Fall-to-Layout #32 from Clean & Simple. I love their sketches. Sadly, this is the first time I've used one of their sketches; it won't be the last time.

Since my sister-in-law has been collecting "java jackets" for me to use in my crafting, I thought it would be appropriate to use them on her card. I die cut a Starbucks and a Peet's Coffee & Tea java jacket. Let's see if she notices...hehe!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Small Sayings (SU!-retired)
Paper: blue textured card base (CA Paper Goods), designer paper (BasicGrey Euphoria), Whisper White (SU!), white corrugated flower (Peet's Coffee & Tea), brown corrugated flower (Starbucks)
Ink: Memories Black
Tools: Martha Stewart Circle Cutter, Corner Rounder (Fiskars), Big Shot, Flower Layers #3 (Sizzix/SU!)
Other: Prima flower, Linen thread (SU!), button (Making Memories)

Feliz Cumpleanos, Abuelo!

I was awakened this morning by an earthquake! A small 3.5 magnitude one, but the epicenter is where I live, so it felt like a larger quake. After 20 years of living in California, I'm still amazed how our buildings can withstand this type of movement. My two Sweeties slept through it all.

March is the busiest birthday month in our families. You would think I could be better prepared...nope! My father-in-law's birthday was yesterday (my in-laws drove up from Southern California on Friday). I don't know about you, but I like to design a card with a particular person in mind. I can't reach into my stack and give them something I created last year. My husband gave me the idea for this hybrid Happy Birthday Grandpa card. My father-in-law loves fĂștbol (soccer) and I got this great picture of him at my son's soccer game last Fall. You may have noticed the bird on his head. That's Minnie. She goes everywhere my in-laws go.

I created this card super quick. I use Google's Picasa to manage my photos. I added the text to the photo using my favorite font, CK Becky before printing out the photo on Kodak paper. I love Kraft cardstock, so it was easy to put it all together. Have a good one!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: none
Paper (all SU!): Kraft, Candy Lane DSP
Ink: none
Tools: Scallop Border Punch (SU!), Crop-A-Dile, corner rounder
Other: large metal soccer brad (Making Memories), linen thread (Blackbird Studios), foam tape

Just Because I Care

I didn't have time to watch the movie this week (Bride & Prejudice) for the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge, but I wanted to make a card anyway. I love the whole Bollywood meets Jane Austen theme.
I watched the YouTube clips for the movie. Aishwarya Rai is gorgeous. Her eyes are amazing. I saw her recently on Martha Stewart. She was promoting the new Pink Panther movie. I remember seeing her a few years ago on Oprah.

Brooke & Sankari had a requirement to use bling on the card...that was my inspiration. I bought the handmade paper I used on this card at Costco over a year ago. This is the first time using the paper. I just noticed that the paper was made in India...cool! It has cotton and silk fibers.

Thanks for looking. Have a good day!

Paper: white card base (JudiKins), Handmade paper (MemoryStor)
Ink: VersaMark
